I was just talking with some of my friends who'd gone to Comic-Con and wondering what you'd gotten up to there. Did you go to any particularly cool panels? You should post some full-length pictures of your costumes!
Since you asked, here are some notes from Comicon 2011 in first and second person.
The first activity was, I drew on my badge.
My drawing was kind of scribbly because I was totally amazed to be there at all. So many costumes. Knots of ninjas, all alike. Except for that one, he looks like Milo's ninja. I pretend to not recognize the ninja. So many ninjas! On every street. That was just getting in, it was amazing to be wearing a costume in a huge throng of costumed audience members.
ONE PANEL Thursday JULY 28, 2011: Warner brothers to Blue-Ray. A bunch of old guys like me talking about Tom And Jerry cartoons. They get to see the original prints! There was a Blue-Ray Tom And Jerry cartoon side by side with the old KCOP channel 6 broadcast. In those days the IEEE did not understand the original prints, the IEEE thought that the prints were animated on threes. Actually it was only black and white film, BECAUSE there was only black and white film available "in those days" so the three frames of film represented red, green, blue versions of one frame. Tom And Jerry is animated on ones.
Sooper good friends on the panel! I am honored to be there! And here!
And... that was only one of the panels. I am totally going to trounce those people who animate on threes. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!! And for those of you who don't know what a "movie film" is, consult with the Linguistics department.
As you can see from this blog, I don't know how to build a working light saber. I did tweet about these things, as they were happening, on my Star Trek communicator. No one seemed to notice much, kind of like, "Oh well he has a working communicator the lucky bastard." -> NOM
